Hampton Fancher, best known as the screenwriter of Blade Runner, narrates his original text set to music by Noah Kaplan in the post-rock spoken word cantata Rat Lunch. Fancher’s cryptic prose darts from Freud to Akhmatova, from the humorous to the macabre over a trio of electric guitar (Marco Cappelli), electric bass (Giacomo Merega), and saxophone (Noah Kaplan). Kaplan’s moody cinematic score illuminates the careening trajectory of Fancher’s text.
